Amir Michael joined Facebook in 2009 and leads the system engineering team responsible for developing the next-generation hardware infrastructure that powers one of the most-trafficked sites in the world. Amir was part of a small team at Facebook that developed data
center and server designs that were 38% more energy efficient and 24% less expensive to build and run than the facilities Facebook was leasing at the time. Amir plays an active role in the Open Compute Project, an initiative to foster more openness, collaboration, and
innovation in the infrastructure hardware industry.

Prior to joining Facebook, Amir worked at Google, where he developed server and data center infrastructure. Amir holds a bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
